RUTHIE WEAVER KEE, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of Raymond Kee died at 11:23 A.M. Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for two days. She was 56 years of age and died following an extended illness of three months.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kee were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, June 22nd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Boyce Wilson, Pastor of the District 15 Christian Center, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery of the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Kee was born November 10, 1952 in Oakland, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Frank Weaver and the late Thelma Harville Weaver. She was educated in the Eads Public School System and was a Graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville, Class of 1971.
She was married March 6, 1971 to Charles Raymond Kee, Sr. of Fayette County, Employee of the Garner Houston Well Company, who survives.
Mrs. Kee was a longtime resident of Fayette County and was a Baptist. She was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the Dollar General Store in Somerville. She received much enjoyment from also serving as a Childcare Provider for a number of years.
Her favorite pastimes included flower and vegetable gardening, caring for her yard and enjoying special times with her family and grandchildren.
She was well known for her love of frog items and through the years had amassed a large collection.
In addition to her husband of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Kee is survived by two daughters, Christy Petrowski (Tommy) of Williston and Sherry Kee of Bolivar; her son, Bo Kee (Leslie) of Somerville; two sisters, Annette Snow of Oakland and Joann Cox of Bolivar; four brothers: Thomas Weaver of Clifton, TN; Larry Weaver of Oakland; Robert Weaver of Laconia and Richard White of Arlington and five grandchildren: Kayla Johnson, Christopher Gansman, Carla Gansman, Trenton Kee and AddiBelle Kee.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meggan Nicole Johnson; a sister, Martha Jo Wright and three brothers: Johnny Weaver, Billy Wayne Weaver and Mitchell White.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Tony German, "Bubba" Kee, Leslie Kee, Mark Kee, Mikey Kee and Richard Kee.
"Little Johnny" Weaver and Scotty Weaver served as honorary casket bearers.
