Sadie Carol Green Cates, age 74, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and wife of the late Thomas Albert Cates, departed this life Monday morning, May 18, 2015 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Cates will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, May 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with interment in the Eads Cemetery. A visitation for Mrs. Cates will be from 11 A.M. to 12 noon Saturday, May 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Cates was born September 9, 1940 in Rossville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Green and Eva Ivy Green. She was a graduate of Olive Branch High School in Mississippi and was the wife of Thomas Albert Cates, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2015. She was employed as an inspector for Security Signals in Memphis for 38 years before her retirement and was a member of the Mercy Bridge Church in Somerville.
Mrs. Cates is survived by three daughters, Donna Morrow Futrell (David) of Somerville, Debbie Cates of Brownsville, Cindy Price (Ronnie) of Moscow; two sisters, Pat Moss of Somerville, Jane Denniston of Jackson, TN; her brother, Charles Green of Mississippi; three grandchildren, Amanda Benner (Mark) of Cordova, Kimberly Morrow of Nashville, Dylan High of Somerville; and her great grandson, Zachary "ZZ" Benner of Cordova.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Johnnie Pattat, Victor Crouch, Donnie Gammel, Mark Benner, Jimmy Bridges, Jimmy Kelley and Franklin High.
Honorary casketbearers will include Terry Morrow.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mercy Bridge Church, 6085 LaGrange Road, Somerville, TN 38068.
