Sadie Ruth Norton, age 78, former resident of Memphis, departed this life Thursday afternoon, August 16, 2018 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

A Graveside Service for Miss Norton was held at 2 P.M. Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Somerville City Cemetery with Bro. Jeremy Arnold of Henderson, Tennessee, officiating. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Miss Norton was born February 2, 1940 in Middleton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Otto Pearl Norton and Elma Ruth Sale Norton. She received her education at Treadwell High School in Memphis and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking, babysitting and playing with children. Miss Norton was a homemaker throughout her life and will be remembered for being a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Miss Norton is survived by three sisters, Joyce Tapp (Tom) of Somerville, TN, Glenda Arrowsmith (Buddy) of Phenix City, AL, Wanda Norton of Robinsonville, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Billy Jones, Billy Holland, David Baker, Alan Boyer, Jonathan Baker and Shawn Wasson. Honorary pallbearers will include William Jones.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
