Sadie Louise (Harbin) Witt

Sadie Louise Harbin Witt, resident of the Moscow Community, former longtime resident of Collierville and wife of Billy Lee Witt died Thursday morning, February 14, 2013 at her residence. She was 67 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Witt were conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, February 19th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Kent Bailey of Somerville officiating. Interment will be private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Witt was born February 14, 1946 in the Hebron Community near Middleton in Hardeman County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Abron Harbin and Bessie Louise Tillman Harbin. She received her education in the Hardeman County Public School System and was married November 30, 1963, to Billy Lee Witt, retired mechanic, who survives.

Known by family members as “MawMaw”, Mrs. Witt was a devoted homemaker throughout her life and was a resident of Collierville for many years before moving to the Moscow Community four years ago. She was a Baptist and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fisherville while living in the Collierville area. In earlier years, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifelong resident of Hardeman, Shelby and Fayette counties.

In addition to her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Witt is survived by two daughters, Vanessa McIntyre of Moscow, Bertha Louise Burns of Moscow; her son, Billy Lee Witt, Jr. of Collierville; her sister, Mary L. Clark of Memphis; three brothers, Jack Harbin (Margie) of Collierville, Bill Harbin of Rossville, Ray Barber (Barbara) of Southaven, MS; and seven grandchildren, Steven Bradley Witt, Hayley Clara Gables, Destiny Nicole Witt, Megan Rose Burns, Christina Alyssa Witt, Tommy Tolentino and Anthony Tolentino.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, c/o Linda Taylor, 16845 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
