Sally (Bowers) Macdonald

February 23, 1930 — August 24, 2014

Sally Bowers Macdonald, resident of the Somerville Community and retired counselor, departed this life Sunday afternoon, August 24, 2014 at her residence. She was 84 years of age and died following an illness of two months.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Macdonald were conducted at 10 A.M. Sunday, August 31st with Rev. Jane Myers Herring officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Macdonald was born February 23, 1930 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Polk Bowers and Sara Louise Zearing Bowers. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson. She was a gifted counselor, most recently employed at the J.B. Summers Counseling Center and the John S. Wilder Youth Development Center, who touched many lives and was much beloved.

Mrs. Macdonald was devoted to her many animal companions and enjoyed gardening and reading. She resided in Arizona and California before moving to the Somerville Community in 1981.

Mrs. Macdonald is survived by two daughters, Melissa Shattuck of Falmouth, Maine, Heather Macdonald LaMarre of Boston, Massachusetts; two sons, Lemuel Shattuck (Cheryl) of Warrensburg, Missouri, Mark Shattuck of San Gregorio, California; her brother, William D. Singleton, Jr. (Lee) of Franklin, Massachusetts; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
