Samuel "Sam" Robert Lucy

April 13, 1931 — November 10, 2015

Samuel Robert "Sam" Lucy, resident of Bolivar and longtime resident of Somerville, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 10, 2015 at the Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Bolivar.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Lucy were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland officiating. Personal remarks were given by Jim Craig. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Lucy was born April 13, 1931 in Missouri. He moved with his family at an early age to Somerville and received his education in the Fayette County Public School System. He served his country in the United States Army and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Lucy was employed with the Fayette County Barn and was also a welder throughout his life before his retirement. He was a longtime resident of Fayette County and enjoyed fishing, preparing food and special times with his family and friends.

Mr. Lucy's survivors include his daughter, Audrey Lucy; his son, Mandel Lucy; two sisters, Carolyn Leatherwood of Somerville, Wanda Cannon of Somerville; and his brother, Jim Craig of Newell, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Elton Craig and Mildred Abernathy Craig; his daughter, Robin Lucy; two sisters, Gloria Ward, Sue Ventura; and two brothers, Joe Craig and Wayne Craig.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Bruce Craig, Brent Craig, Harold Johnson, Randy Johnson, Cody Cannon and Dennis Cheairs.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, 4162 Hadley Drive, Lakeland, TN 38002 or the American Heart Association, 2170 Business Center Drive, Suite 1, Bartlett, TN 38134.
