Sandi (Campbell) Kemp

Sandra Lee “Sandi” Campbell Kemp, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and wife of Max D. Kemp departed this life Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2013 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for four weeks. She was 68 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Kemp were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, May 19th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Eddie Little of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church officiating. Special music was provided by Anita Goodman. Interment followed in the Big Creek Cemetery near Millington. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Kemp was born May 7, 1944 in Shelby County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Val Wick “Val” Campbell and Mary Brashier Campbell. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a resident of the Memphis area before moving to the Hickory Withe Community 13 years ago.

She was a devoted member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and was a dedicated homemaker throughout her lifetime. She was married June 27, 1975 to Max D. Kemp, retired chemical company employee, who survives. She had a lifelong love for music and had a close, loving relationship with her family and to her church members that she considered family. Mrs. Kemp will be remembered for her Christian values and for the enjoyment she received from caring for her pet cats. Participating in contests of all types was a favorite pastime for Mrs. Kemp.

In addition to her husband of 37 years, Mrs. Kemp is survived by two daughters, Shelly Waldrip Allred of Hernando, MS, Shea Morrisson of Somerville; her sister, Charlene Byars (Paul) of Somerville; six brothers, Albert Campbell (Paulette) of Brownsville, William Campbell (Debbie) of Mauldin, SC, Robert Campbell (Barbara) of Hickory Withe, Glenn Campbell (Diane) of Lakeland, Rick Campbell of Laconia, Donald Campbell (Wanda) of Iuka, MS; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mrs. Kemp’s brothers and honorary casketbearers were Mrs. Kemp’s grandsons.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, 17675 Highway 196, Eads, TN 38028.
