Sandra "Sandy" Kay (Fanning) Lorentino

May 7, 1943 — October 8, 2014

Sandra Kay "Sandy" Fanning Lorentino, resident of the Somerville Community and retired Registered Nurse, departed this life Wednesday morning, October 8, 2014 at her residence. She was 71 years of age and died following an illness of three years.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Lorentino were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 15th at the First Assembly of God Church in Cordova. The officiating ministers were Dr. Thomas Lindberg, Rev. Jackie Ashpole and Rev. David Dodd. Graveside Services were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 15th at the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Lorentino was born May 7, 1943 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brodie Fanning and Ina Johnson Fanning. She received her education in the Shelby County School System and was a graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing. She was a lifelong member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cordova and received much pleasure in reading her Bible, prayer and revival.

Mrs. Lorentino was employed as a Registered Nurse at the St. Francis Hospital for 20 years before her retirement in 2011. She was a resident of West Tennessee for much of her life and moved to the Somerville Community nine years ago. She enjoyed visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, sewing, reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her friends. Special times with her grandchildren was an important part of her life.

Mrs. Lorentino is survived by three daughters, Tanya Burt (Mike) of Cordova, Becky Lorentino of Somerville, Shanna Dodd (David) of Somerville; her brother, Jimmy Fanning (Estelle) of Cordova; and three grandchildren, Sarah Grace Burt, David Judah Dodd and Hannah Gatlin.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mike Burt, Chuck Fanning, Steve Rainey, Glenn Johnson, Howard Johnson and Jim Buchanan.

Honorary casketbearers were Jimmy Fanning, Gene Hanson, David Fanning, Guy Ray, Jason Hall and Nathan Johnson.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the First Assembly of God Missions Department or the First Assembly Christian School, 8650 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN 38018.
