Sara Vivien (Yager) Moore

September 17, 1932 — March 15, 2017

Sara Vivien Yager Moore, age 84, resident of Bartlett, Tennessee, and wife of the late Howard Joseph Moore, Sr., departed this life Wednesday morning, March 15, 2017, at the Heritage at Irene Woods in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Moore were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Lynn Eagan of Collierville, Tennessee, officiating. Personal remarks were given by Nancy Smith and Ronnie Moore. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Moore was born September 17, 1932, in Fayette County, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Memphis State University and was married October 7, 1978, to Howard Joseph Moore. Mrs. Moore was employed as a librarian for Fayette County Schools from 1958 until 1975. She was a secretary for Butler & Butler CPA Firm for 15 years and Hill, Klein & Hill for two years before her retirement in September of 1999. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Moore enjoyed sewing, preparing food, and being with her family.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Cindy Mills (Andy) of Collierville, TN; two sons, Ronnie Moore of Memphis, TN, Howard Moore, Jr. of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Cortney Mills of Collierville, TN, Cody Mills of Collierville, TN, Trey Moore of Southaven, MS; and three nieces, Nancy Smith (Jim) of Moscow, TN, Kris Osborne (Randy) of Houston, TX, and Mary Catherine Simmons (Mike) of Moscow, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Joseph Moore, Sr., who died October 27, 2015; her parents, Walter Lee Yager and Mary Sue Doyle Yager; two sisters, Juanita Stark and Frances Fears; and her brother, John Yager.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Cody Mills, Trey Moore, Ronnie Moore, Jim Smith and Bob Turner. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Mills and Howard Moore, Jr.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, TN 38016 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 713 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
