Sarah Gwen (Earnest) Bishop

Sarah Gwen Earnest Bishop, age 76, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of Johnny Bishop, departed this life Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Bishop were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Don Hammons, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Bishop was born January 17, 1941 in Hardeman County, Tennessee. She received her education in the Hardeman County School System and was married March 7, 1959 to Johnny Bishop. She was employed as a seamstress for many years before her retirement and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Bishop enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, preparing food for her loved ones, shopping, gardening and working at her church.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband of 58 years, Johnny Bishop of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Kim Simpson (Lee) of Somerville, TN; five sisters, Mary Jean Bishop, Joyce Parks (Gene), Judy Fortune, Jackie Howard (Alan), Janie Paige (Mark); two brothers, Richard Earnest, Douglas Earnest (Denise); four grandchildren, Ashley Burnett (fiancé, Jeff Hatfield), Josh Burnett, Crystal Dillard (Gabe), Joseph Simpson; and two great-grandchildren, Destry Dillard and Daija Dillard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Malvin Earnest and Florence Irwin Earnest; two sisters, Ruth Bishop, Sue Tucker; and her brother, Buddy Alvin Earnest.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Timmy Bishop, Danny Bishop, Dillon Bishop, Kyle Marlar, Taylor Paige and Delaney Paige. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Paige and Kenneth Earnest.
