Sarah Bell Kee Hoskins, longtime resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Cecil Hoskins, Sr. departed this life Saturday evening, November 26, 2011 at the Methodist Fayette Hospital in Somerville where she had been a patient for one day. She was 87 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hoskins were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 29th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Marvin Woods of the Bolivar Church of God officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Hoskins was born September 2, 1924 in Camden, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas Kee and Beda Smith Kee. She moved at an early age with her parents to Fayette County and received her education in the Fayette County Public School System. She was married in 1940 to Cecil Hoskins, Sr., employee of H & C Table Company in Somerville before his death in 1974.
Mrs. Hoskins was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the HIS Garment Manufacturing Company in Whiteville and later was employed by the Fayette County General Hospital before her retirement. She was a longtime member of Faith Church of God in Somerville. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her interests included quilting, crocheting, gardening and preparing food for family members and special occasions.
Mrs. Hoskins is survived by two daughters, Linda Young (Bert) of Somerville, Brenda Kirk (Tim) of Somerville; five sons, Cecil Hoskins, Jr. (Geraldine) of Somerville, Jimmy Hoskins (Shirley) of Somerville, Larry Hoskins of Somerville, Somerville Police Chief, Ricky Hoskins (Marie) of Somerville, Kenneth Hoskins of Somerville; her brother, Charlie Kee (Nancy) of Somerville; 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Hoskins was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jerry Parker.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Steve Hoskins, Mike Hoskins, Josh Smith, Cody Hoskins, Bryan Hoskins and Jason Taylor.
Honorary casketbearers were Larry Wayne Hoskins, Jimbo Hoskins, Lance Hoskins, Hunter Wasmund and Police Officers of the Somerville Police Department.
