Christopher Scott Bankston, resident of Germantown, formerly of the Somerville Community, Memphis area paramedic and husband of Tiffini Bankston departed this life Sunday morning, June 2, 2013 at the Methodist Germantown Hospital. He was 37 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Bankston were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, June 8th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Raymond Scott, a family friend, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Bankston was born May 9, 1976 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine Pace Winfrey, of Somerville. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and continued his education at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis. Mr. Bankston served as a lieutenant for the West Fayette Fire Department as a young person and in recent years had served as a paramedic in the Memphis area. He was employed by Pro-Med Ambulance Service in Memphis at the time of his death.

“Scott” will be remembered as a person devoted to caring for others in serving as a paramedic and fireman. His outgoing personality and great sense of humor endeared him to many and he will be remembered as a family-oriented person with a great love for his family, his friends and his work. Scott and his family attended Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis and had a lifelong love for music and NASCAR activities. He was an avid University of Memphis Tiger football fan, enjoyed playing the guitar and animals.

Mr. Bankston is survived by his wife, Tiffini Bankston of Germantown; two sons, Chris Bankston of Collierville, Anthony Bankston of Collierville; his daughter, Morgan Suarez of Germantown; and his stepfather, Will Rhea Winfrey, Jr. of Somerville.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 44, Rossville, TN 38066.
