Scott France Beem, a resident of the Moscow Community, retired Charter Bus Company Owner and husband of Bette Beem died Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2009 at the Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill while visiting in the Pickwick Dam area. He was 73 years of age and died unexpectedly.
A Celebration Of Life Service for Mr. Beem was held at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 31st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Jim Whitley, Pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church at Laconia, officiating. A private family interment will occur at a later date in the New Albany/Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany, Ohio. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Beem was born March 16, 1935 in Cleveland Ohio the son of the late Harold Dale Beem and the late Mary Belle Scott Beem. He was educated in the Lexington, Michigan Public School System where he graduated from high school and continued his education at the University of Michigan. He was a former resident of Dallas, Texas and resided in Memphis for a number of years before moving to Fayette County five years ago. He was married December 26, 1987 to the former Bette Nuckolls, a native of Memphis who survives.
Mr. Beem was a Charter Bus Company Operator and Founded Bette Bus Transportation in Memphis, a company formed to transport airline passengers to and from Memphis and Little Rock. He had been retired for fifteen years and was an avid fisherman and reader throughout his life. A culinary artist and chef, he was a collector of books and was a person who enjoyed animals and nature.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Beem is survived by his daughter, Debbie Woomer of Charlotte, NC; his step-daughter Laura Alderson of Memphis; three sons: Scott Woomer and Kent Woomer, both of Dallas, TX and Craig Beem (Rita) of Memphis and one granddaughter, Rachel Beem of Memphis.
