Selena Thompson Humphrey

June 29, 1976 — March 2, 2025

Millington, Tennessee

Selena Thompson Humphrey, age 48, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Humphrey were held at 1 P.M. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community.

Selena was born on June 29,1976, in Paducah, Kentucky, the beloved daughter of the late L.T. Thompson and Eva Ferge Thompson. She graduated from Fayette Ware High School and continued her education at Tennessee Technology to pursue a career in nursing. She spent over 25 years in Home Health graciously serving others. She married on October 10, 2020 to Darren Humphrey, who survives. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and her unwavering faith in God. Selena found joy in preparing meals for family and friends and was known to cook “just like her mama”. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and it was no surprise for anyone entering her home to see several Christmas trees decorated in every room. Selena had a love for outdoors and she always had a fishing pole ready for a pretty day to fish which was a favorite pastime. Selena loved being at a ball field whether it was watching Dalton or cheering on others. However, her greatest love was being a wonderful wife, adoring mom, and an awesome Mimi.

In addition to her loving husband, Darren, Selena is survived by her 3 sons, Payton Markle (Kaitlyn) of Hickory Valley, TN; Dalton Markle of Millington, TN, and Logan Humphrey of Millington, TN; her daughter Jessica Markle (Samuel) of Bolivar, TN; 2 grandchildren, Bryson Gammell and Zoey Markle; 2 sisters, Thelma Thompson Kee of Somerville, TN; Melissa Ferge Williams (James) of Whiteville, TN; 2 brothers, David Earl Thompson (Wanda) of Bolivar, TN; Charlie (Big Boy) Ferge (Mallory) of Whiteville, TN; mother-in-law, Marie Humphrey of Millington, TN; brother-in-law, Glenn Humphrey (Lori) of Millington, TN and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her birth mother, Mary Singleton, brother, Marvin Ferge, father-in-law, Robert Humphrey and brother-in-law, Eugene Kee.

Selena’s passing has left a void in our hearts. While her life was cut short on earth, she left a profound impact on those who knew and loved her. Shall we never forget her “heart of gold.”

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Payton Markle, Dalton Markle, David Dunn, Charlie (Big Boy) Ferge, Joey Ferge, and Brandon Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Cook and Glenn Humphrey.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital www.lebonheur.org
