Sharon Ann Carter, resident of the Somerville Community and retired tax consultant for the Internal Revenue Service, departed this life Wednesday morning, June 25, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. She was 66 years of age and died following an illness of two months.
Services for Ms. Carter were conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, June 28th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Ms. Carter was born July 3, 1947 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodie Green Carter and Juanita Bernice Harris Carter. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and resided in the Somerville Community for ten years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing card games, shopping, playing bingo, collecting dolls and collecting teapots.
Ms. Carter is survived by two daughters, Donna Austin of Somerville, Sheila Baker of Memphis; her son, Virgil Lewis Baker, Jr. of Somerville; two sisters, Brenda Sue Pitcock (Steve) of Bartlett, Margie Watson (Roy Royroe) of Searcy, AR; her brother, Walter Glenn Carter of Tucker, AR; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Louis Carter.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Shelby County Chapter of the American Heart Association, 2170 Business Center Drive, Suite 1, Bartlett, TN 38134.
