Sheila (Anderson) Vernon

April 29, 1946 — October 15, 2017

Sheila Anderson Vernon, age 71, resident of Somerville and wife of Ewart Vernon, died Sunday morning, October 15, 2017 at the Millington Health Care Center in Millington, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Vernon were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Walls Cemetery in the Braden Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Vernon was born April 29, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Otho Lewis Anderson, Jr. and Hazel E. Taylor Anderson. She received her education at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. She was a former resident of Hardy, Arkansas before moving to the Somerville area. Mrs. Vernon was married March 31, 1996 to Ewart Vernon and she was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church. She was employed as a cafeteria manager for Memphis City Schools before her retirement. Mrs. Vernon will be remembered for being a great cook and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Vernon is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ewart Vernon of Somerville, TN; two sons, Thomas Lee Walker (Michelle L. Walker) of Somerville, TN, Timothy Lee Walker (Paula M. Walker) of Oakland, TN; two sisters, Janice Easterwood of Millington, TN, Pat Long of Hardy, AR; four grandchildren, Amber Walker of Somerville, TN, Holly Henley (Tyler Henley) of Williston, TN, Courtney Wischoff (Trent Wischoff) of Bossier City, LA, Candice Walker of Oakland, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel Henley, Troy Wischoff and Emma Grace Henley.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jim Vernon, T.J. Vernon, Jacob Vernon, Tom Walker, Tim Walker and Jeff Poyner.
