Shirley Madeline (Treadway) Demby

Shirley Madeline Treadway Demby, resident of Millington, and a native of Fayette County departed this life Tuesday morning, June 4, 2013 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for one week. She was 77 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Ms. Demby will be conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, June 10th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. A visitation for Ms. Demby will be one hour before services. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Ms. Demby was born February 21, 1936 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, George N. “Lonzie” Treadway and Mable Lucille Henley Treadway. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and in earlier years was employed as a bookkeeper in Memphis for several businesses. She was a resident of Florida for a number of years before moving to the Millington Community. She was a member of the Parks Chapel United Methodist Church in Fayette County and served as a caregiver for the elderly.

Ms. Demby enjoyed caring for her yard and flowers as long as health permitted and received pleasure from her pet canines.

Ms. Demby is survived by three sisters, Mable Parks of the District 15 Community, Frances Gabbard of Walnut, MS, Yvonne Calhoun of Bolivar; her brother, Fred Treadway of Somerville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Andy Calhoun, Ralph Lanier, Donnie Ray Parks, Bobby Parks, Drew Calhoun and Tyler Calhoun.
