Shirley (Curtis) Hushen

January 16, 1930 — January 14, 2013

Shirley Curtis Hushen, resident of the Somerville Community, retired accountant and office manager and wife of Stanley Hushen died Monday evening, January 14, 2013 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville. She was 82 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hushen were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 19th at the Decatur-Trinity Christian Church in Memphis with Pastor Carole Williams of the church officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Germantown Parkway in Bartlett. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Hushen was born January 16, 1930 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton Curtis and Cora Barnes Curtis. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a resident of Shelby County before moving to the Somerville Community 15 years ago. She was married for 60 years to U.S. Army Veteran Stanley Cecil Hushen, Jr., retired artist and owner of Stan’s Printing Service in Memphis, who survives.

Mrs. Hushen had been a devoted member of the Decatur-Trinity Christian Church in past years and served as an accountant and office manager for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Memphis in past years. She also was associated with her husband in the operation of their family printing company located in Memphis and Bartlett.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Mrs. Hushen is survived by her brother, Eugene Curtis of North Carolina and other family members and longtime church friends.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Decatur-Trinity Christian Church, 2449 Altruria Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
