Shirley Crocker Lane, age 87, resident of Memphis, Tennessee and wife of the late William Davis Lane, departed this life Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
Shirley was born February 19, 1937 in Cypress, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Alfred Crocker and Mabel Parker Crocker. She graduated from Messick High School in Memphis and continued her education at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
Shirley was married June 12, 1959 to William Davis Lane who preceded her in death on January 31, 2010. Mrs. Lane was employed as a teacher for many years before her retirement. Shirley was a member of the Highland Street Church of Christ and White Station Church of Christ in Memphis. She and Bill joined the Somerville Church of Christ when they moved to Oakland, Tennessee. She enjoyed reading, sewing and camping.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her son, William Davis Lane II and her grandson, Luke Lane.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lane were held at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Remarks were given by Luke Lane and Davis Lane and the eulogy was given by Katie Knott and the music leader was Nathan Green. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Luke Lane, Jason Hooston, Robert Lane, John Lane, Mark Lane and Scott Roman. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Wright, Butch Glover, Philip Hatcher, Darrell Beard and Leroy Miller.
