S. LYLE HUNTER KENYON

SALLY LYLE HUNTER KENYON, a resident of Memphis and former resident of Dallas with extended family members in Fayette County died at 1:15 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Trezevant Manor in Memphis. She was 89 years of age.

Funeral services for Mrs. Keynon were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, September 14th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Robin Hatzenbuehler, Trezevant Manor Chaplain, officiating. Interment and graveside services will follow in the Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery at Dallas, Texas. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Kenyon was born January 5, 1920 in Grand Junction, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Hunter and Mary Lee Seabrook Hunter.

She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and was married to Clarence Frye Kenyon, Jr. who preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon were longtime residents of Dallas, Texas where Mrs. Kenyon served as Executive Secretary for the InterFirst Banking Corporation for many years before her retirement.

After the death of her husband, she moved to Memphis to be near local relatives. She had been a resident of the Trezevant Manor Retirement Center in Memphis for the past ten years where she remained active by participating in numerous activities.

She was a longtime Presbyterian and will be remembered as an avid Dallas Cowboy Football fan.

Mrs. Kenyon is survived by the children of Billy and Elise (Hunter) Cowan (Lyle's sister) of LaGrange, TN (both deceased): John and Mimi (Cowan) Grimshaw of Wilmington, NC and their two daughters, Amy Grimshaw of Raleigh, NC and Cathy (Grimshaw) and Tommy Caldwell of Hampstead, NC and their children, T. J. and Hannah; Bill and Sally Cowan of LaGrange, TN and their children, Will and Elizabeth (Cowan) Thomason of Atlanta, GA and their children, William and Grace, Barton and Cristy (Cowan) Thrasher of LaGrange, TN, and their children, Adi, Bo, and Sarah, William B. Cowan, III (Trey) of LaGrange, TN and Ashley Seabrook Cowan and her son, Thomas Carpenter; Judy (Cowan) and Ricky McQueen of Somerville, TN.
