Stanley Ervin Ellis, age 75, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Patricia Ellis, departed this life Friday evening, November 22, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Stanley was born June 30, 1949 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the son of the late Grady Ervin Ellis and Syble Lucille Palmertree Ellis. He graduated from Holmes Community College and graduated with an associate of arts degree in 1969 and served his country in the United States Army National Guard from 1969 until 1975. He was married February 6, 1971 to Patricia McCuiston Ellis and was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville.
Mr. Ellis was employed as a systems analyst in the early 1970’s and then graduated from the Mississippi School of Banking in 1993. He served as Branch President of First National Bank of Holmes County/BankPlus in Durant, Mississippi from 1991 until 2011. Stanley was a farmer throughout his life. He enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, reading, Bible Study, visiting with his family, playing Rook with his cousins and going to many athletic events that included his grandchildren. Stanley was always working with his hands and was talented in carpentry and mechanics.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ellis; his daughter, Rebecca Forrester; his brother, Tommy Ellis; and two grandchildren, Mary Agnes Forrester and Phoebe Ellis Forrester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ellis and his son-in-law, Stephen Forrester.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ellis were held at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Stan Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery at Williston.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Mike McCuiston, Blake McCuiston, Ronnie Betts, Joe McLellan, Corey Sharpe and Ellis White.
