Stanley Cecil Hushen, Jr.

October 28, 1926 — November 5, 2015

Stanley Cecil “Stan” Hushen, Jr., age 89, resident of Somerville, retired business owner and husband of the late Shirley Curtis Hushen, departed this life Thursday evening, November 5, 2015 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Graveside Services of Remembrance for Mr. Hushen will be conducted at a later date in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Bartlett. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Hushen was born October 28, 1926 in Everett, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts and was the husband of the former Shirley Curtis. Mr. Hushen served his country in the United States Army during the World War II Period. He was a resident of Fayette County for 40 years and was a member of the Decatur-Trinity Christian Church in Memphis and was the owner and artist at Stan’s Printing Service in Bartlett. Mr. Hushen had a special love for the arts and enjoyed gardening and restoring antique cars. He was an entrepreneur throughout his life and the founder of the Bartlett Express newspaper.

Mr. Hushen is survived by his cousin, Audrey Grover of Florida, his sister-in-law, Betty Curtis, four nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Curtis Hushen who died January 14, 2013 and his parents, Stanley Cecil Hushen, Sr. and Hilda M. Thomson Hushen.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Christmount Retreat, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
