Starlet Ann Stainback Newman, age 67, resident of Holly Springs, Mississippi and wife of the late William Robert Newman, departed this life Sunday morning, December 22, 2024 at her home.
Starlet was born November 2, 1957 in Somerville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Kerr Crawford Stainback and Shirley Inez Doyle Stainback. She graduated from Trezevant High School in Memphis, Tennessee and was a stay-at-home wife and mom for much of her life. She was married in 1978 to William Robert Newman who preceded her in death on November 25, 2012.
Mrs. Newman was a member of Pocahontas First Baptist Church in Pocahontas, Tennessee and will be remembered for being a loving mother. She was a strong-willed person who enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and baking, watching hummingbirds, flowers and gardening.
Mrs. Newman is survived by two daughters, Deonne Henry (Curtis) of Corinth, MS and Nikki Westmoreland (Keith) of Holly Springs, MS; two sons, Jason Cooper (Charity) of Selmer, TN and Shannon Newman (Angie) of Selmer, TN; her stepdauhter, Crystal Curle (Kevin); her sister, Jacqueline Luker of Corinth, MS; her half-sister, Christy Rosson of Pontotoc, MS; fourteen grandchildren, Layne Henry, Rylan Henry, Hayden Westmoreland, Cohen Westmoreland, Shelby Cooper, Chloe Cooper, Dakota Cooper, Ashton Cooper, Kayleigh Bibb, Blake Belue, Elijah Yarbro, Trenae Yarbro, Kailah Hutchison and Kelsey Gonzalez; and four great-grandchildren, Emme Henry, Jayden Bibb, Raelynn Bibb and Grayson Gonzalez.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Newman were held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Brother Steve McKee, pastor of Pocahontas First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Rehoboth Cemetery near Somerville.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Keith Westmoreland, Curtis Henry, Layne Henry, Rylan Henry, Ashton Cooper, Jamie Luker, Elijah Yarbro and Charles Bowers.
