Stephen Earl (Steve) Ollar, resident of Memphis with extended family members in Fayette County died Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for four days. He was 52 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Ollar were conducted at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, December 22nd in Memphis with Bro. Loyd Shelton of Rossville officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Avenue. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Ollar was born August 18, 1960 in Arlington, Texas, the son of Carl Benjamin Ollar and Betty Ann Latimer Ollar. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Ridgeway High School. Mr. Ollar was employed as a foreman for the Insituform Technologies in Memphis and other locations before retiring 6 years ago for health reasons.
He was a Christian and had a deep love for his family, serving as a caregiver for his parents. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and gun collector that enjoyed sport shooting. Grilling outdoors and special times with his family were pleasures that he enjoyed.
Mr. Ollar is survived by his parents, Carl and Betty Ollar of Memphis; his sister, Cathy Plunkett (Jim) of Memphis; his brother, Greg Ollar (Karen) of Fountain Hills, AZ; five nieces, Irina Ollar, Lynne Nethken, Hanna Nethken, Cheyenne Nethken, Erin Plunkett; and three nephews, Christopher B. Ollar, Samuel Ollar and Brandon Nethken.
