Susan Lynn Short Holley, 66 years old, from Hickory Withe, Tennessee, went to be with Jesus on January 19, 2016. She fought a very strong fight against leukemia and beat it twice. She underwent a successful stem cell transplant.
Susan was born May 24, 1949 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sammons Short and Gladys Watkins Short. She was a former resident of the Bartlett area and was a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for the past 11 years. She was previously employed with OBGYN Physicians Care in Bartlett and as a financial secretary at Urgent Care Center in Oakland before retiring for health reasons. Susan was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing dresses for her grandchildren and playing Bunco with her friends.
She leaves behind two brothers, Tommy Short (Edwina) of Jackson, TN and Joseph Short of Boston, MA. She also leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Jim Holley of Hickory Withe, TN, three sons, James Brian Holley (Meredith) of Somerville, TN, Brandon Thomas Holley (Melissa) of Arlington, TN, Brad Sammons Holley of Arlington, TN, her daughter, Brooke Holley Meskenas (David) of Arlington, TN and 11 grandchildren.
Susan had a heart of gold and loved her family so much. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. Susan never met a stranger and her contagious laugh and smile lit up a room.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Holley were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the church, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Dave Biter. Special music was provided by Bro. Dave Biter, Tina Biter and Thomas Elrod. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Terry Leggett, Rick "Woody" Jewel, Brian Holley, Brandon Holley, Brad Holley, Dave Meskenas, Trevor Holley and Michael Brister.
