Susie Ruth (Myrick) Sides

Susie Ruth Myrick Sides, age 92, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and wife of the late Carl Hinton Sides, departed this life Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sides were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Ron Earnest officiating. Special music was provided by Arnold Smith. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel in Somerville.

Susie was born July 29, 1926 in Huntsville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Herman Myrick and Rosa Kate Brock Myrick. She received her bachelor’s degree at Memphis State University and was married August 31, 1946 to Carl Hinton Sides who preceded her in death on March 13, 2013. Mrs. Sides was a 1st and 5th grade teacher at Fayette Academy for many years before her retirement at the age of 65. She was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow and enjoyed quilting and making porcelain dolls.

Mrs. Sides is survived by two daughters, Julia Follendore (Roy) of Manassas, VA, Jeanette Zysk (Brendan) of Moscow, TN; her son, Carl Brock Sides (Janet) of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren, Matthew Hollis McLain, Melissa Coriander McLain Pitcher, Christopher David Fiske, Rebecca Lee Follendore Price, Roy David Follendore; eight great-grandchildren, Seth McLain, Zachary Jackson, Skye McLain, Ashlynn Rae Fiske, Joseph David Fiske, Caleb Davidson Fiske, Rose Caroline Price, Freya Ruth Price; and her great-great-granddaughter, Susanna Jackson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Sides McLain who died in February of 1981.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Roy David Follendore III, Matthew Hollis McLain, Christopher David Fiske, Glen Sides, Larry Pugh and Gary Lewis.
