Suzanne Leigh (Fields) Overton, age 67, resident of Cordova and wife of Charles “Charlie” Overton, departed this life last Thursday evening, January 19, 2017 at her residence.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Overton were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Ted Dennis, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Somerville, officiating. A Private Interment will be in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Overton was a retired teacher, born February 9, 1949 in Bristol, Virginia. She received her education at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bristol. She was married July 10, 1976 to Charles “Charlie” Overton and she loved children and music. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, loved her Facebook friends, and was an excellent cook. She was greatly loved for her kindness and generosity.
Mrs. Overton is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles “Charlie” Overton of Cordova, TN; her son, Charles Andrew “Andy” Overton, and daughter-in-law, Kristen Lee of Cordova, TN; two sisters, Karen Fields of Greenville, SC, and Deborah "Debbie" (Fields) Hardison and husband Philip of Knoxville, TN, and their children, Cooper, Ethan, and Graham; her sister-in-law, Sandra Overton Myers (Ralph) of Somerville, TN; her beloved grandson, Jonathon Hyde “Johnny” Overton; and her nephew, Todd Overton of Memphis, TN.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Andrea Adams Fields Smythe; her father, Emmett Alfred Fields, Jr.; and two sons, John Patrick Overton and Michael Cory Overton.
