Tara Elizabeth Holland

Tara Elizabeth Holland, resident of Jackson, TN and retired attorney with extended family members in Fayette and Hardeman Counties died Saturday evening May 26, 2012 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was 56 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Ms. Holland were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 29th at the Graveside with Bro. Don Hammons of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in District 15 officiating. A Special Trumpet Solo was rendered by Thomas E. Markle. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Ms. Holland was born April 26, 1956 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of Elizabeth W. “Liz” Treadway Cowart and the late George Binford Holland, Sr. She received her education in the Jackson Public School System and continued her education at Jackson State Community College. She was a graduate of Lambuth University in Jackson and received her Doctorate of Law Degree from the University of Memphis.

A multi-talented person, Ms. Holland enjoyed outdoor, river and water activities and horseback riding. She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of the Jackson area.

Ms. Holland is survived by her mother, Liz Treadway Cowart of Jackson, TN; her sister, Iva Darnall of Memphis; two brothers, Binford Holland (Madge) of Collierville, Peter Holland of Quitman, MS; and a number of special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Pete Holland, Tommy Markle, Ty Holland, Bin Holland, Binford Holland, John C. Treadway and Andrew Dearth.
