Susan St. John of Cordova, Tennessee, age 53, passed away on Thursday morning, September 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer in which she participated in clinical trials in hopes of helping other patients.
She was born September 14, 1969 in Somerville, Tennessee and grew up in Oakland. She graduated from Fayette Academy High School and received a BBA in Marketing from Memphis State University in 1992. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and Les Passees charity organization.
Always industrious, she worked in several careers including Coca-Cola Enterprises, restored two antebellum homes with her hard-working husband Jay, Galloway House in Macon, TN and Thistledome Inn in Byhalia, MS. She opened a Bed & Breakfast and event center and enjoyed hosting weddings and historic home tours. She also worked as a realtor and achieved several prestigious awards. Her most productive and proudest work was as a stay-at-home mom. Her passions included antiques, flowers – especially rose gardens, fountains, outdoor activities, raising Gouldian finches, beekeeping and enjoying pets with her children.
Susan would like to be remembered as a child of God and follower of Jesus Christ, a supportive wife to her best friend, Jay, and an adoring, devoted mother to three wonderful children, Savanna, Justin and Josh. Her life was a shower of blessings and miracles. Her parents, sisters and their families, Brittany, Bonnie and Faye St. John Woods, and her many friends who brought her love and stability. She is thankful for you all.
She leaves behind her husband, Jeffrey Adams St. John; three children, Savanna Theresa, Justin Mark and Joshua Adams, all of which she considered it her greatest joy, privilege, blessing and treasure to spend time with. She also leaves her parents, Mark and Theresa “Terry” Leake Kelley; two sisters, Angela Mathis (Phillip), Ann Caldwell (Joseph); and seven nieces and nephews, Kelley Hess (Christopher), Phillip Henry Hess, Victoria Ward (Joseph), Cora Jean Ward, Esslie Ward, David Caldwell and Christie Caldwell.
