THOMAS RICHARD "TOM" DAVIS

October 14, 1937 — October 5, 2008

THOMAS RICHARD DAVIS, a resident of the Oakland Community and retired Woodworker, died at 2 P.M. Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Grace Healthcare Center in Cordova where he had resided for nine months. He was 70 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 8th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with the Rev. Eddie Little, Pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Davis was born October 14, 1937 in Amma, West Virginia, the son of the late Donald Brooks Davis and the late Mary Bernice Butler Davis. He was educated in the Atlanta, Georgia Public School System and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Davis was involved in woodworking throughout his life and had formerly served as a Tour Bus Operator. He enjoyed traveling and visiting various places in the United States.

Survivors of Mr. Davis include his daughter, Marie Perry of Statham, GA; two sons, Thomas Scott Davis of Lawrenceville, GA and Thomas Richard Davis of Statham, GA; two sisters, Thelma Jerden of Hickory Withe and Patricia Meister of Mansfield, OH; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Jo Davis in 1993.
