Thomas Gene “Tommy” Glover, resident of Memphis, retired residential painter and brother of Butch Glover of Somerville departed this life Friday evening, July 26, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for eight days. He was 57 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Glover were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, August 1st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Ted Archdeacon, pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bartlett officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Glover was born March 20, 1956 in Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Warren Glover and Rebecca Viola Bond Glover. He moved with his family to Shelby County as a young person and received his education in the Shelby County Public School System. He was a former resident of the Eads Community and was a self-employed house painter for a number of years in the Memphis area before his retirement for health reasons. He was a lifelong resident of the Fayette and Shelby County areas.
Mr. Glover is survived by two daughters, Tommie Garrett of Bartlett, Amber Garrett of Bartlett; three sons, Ramsey McClain of West Virginia, Wesley McClain of Memphis, Brad Glover of Bolivar; two brothers, Butch Glover of Somerville, Mike Glover of Memphis; and nine grandchildren.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Old Union Cemetery, c/o Harry Wiles, 106 East Marginal, Somerville, TN 38068 or to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
