THOMAS LEE HOWE, a resident of Paris, Kentucky, retired United States Army career person and the husband of Susan Webb Howe died Monday, December 15, 2008 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. He was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.

A gathering of family members and friends took place at 10 A.M. Saturday, December 20th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland with remarks given by Rev. Jim Withington of Millington. Interment with Full Military Honors followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Howe was born in Wayne County, Michigan April 8, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents Winfred Howe and Gladys McFarland Howe. He served in the United States Army for over twenty years during both war and peace time and had been a resident of Paris, Kentucky for a number of years.

He was employed as Security Manger for L-3 Communications before his illness and was the husband of Susan Webb Howe, who survives.

Mr. Howe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his patriotism to his country and devotion to his family and community.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Howe is survived by two daughters, Carla Lane of Memphis and Melissa Howe of Paris, KY; two sons, Winfred Howe (Sue) and Tommy Howe (Dawn), both of Memphis; two step-children, Hilary Akers of Marion, AR and Jerry Hughes, Jr. of Memphis; three brothers: Winfred Howe of Frankfort, KY; Richard Howe of Okeechobee, FL and James Clinton Howe (Brenda) of Highbridge, KY; his mother-in-law, Sue Rogers Shelby of Oakland; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Military personnel served as casket bearers.

The family request that Memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
