Thomas Adrain "Tom" Shelby

September 10, 1933 — July 12, 2016

Thomas Adrain "Tom" Shelby, age 82, resident of Nesbit, Mississippi and native of Fayette County, departed this life Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Shelby were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Don Hammons, pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Shelby was born September 10, 1933 in Fayette County.  He attended school in the Fayette County School System.  He was a television technician until his retirement and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Mr. Shelby was a member of Masonic Lodge Oakville #599  for over fifty years.

Mr. Shelby is survived by his daughter, Tammy Turner and her husband, Tommy, of Olive Branch, MS; his son, Bobby Shelby and his wife, Kathy, of Nesbit, MS; his brother, Billy C. Shelby and his wife, Wanda, of Bolivar, TN; and four grandchildren, Jacob Shelby, Jessica Shelby, Brad Turner, and Mark Turner and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell Chappell Shelby who died in 1984; his parents, William Leland Shelby and Vera Mae Thompson Shelby; his sister, Sarah Maxine Shelby; and three brothers Leodus Shelby, Gaylon Shelby, and Wayne Shelby.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Landon Shelby, Wayne Thomas, Jacob Shelby, Tommy Turner, Bobby Shelby and Jeffrey Rainey. Honorary pallbearers included Ed Denniston.
