Thomas Richard Storey, age 70, resident of the Hickory Withe Community in Fayette County, Tennessee and husband of Ina Ferrell Storey, died Monday evening, October 30, 2017 at his residence.
Graveside Services for Mr. Storey were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64 with Raymond Jones, minister at Charleston, Mississippi Church of Christ, officiating. He was assisted by David South, minister at Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Cordova, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Storey was born December 8, 1946 in Union City, Tennessee in Obion County. He served his country in the United States Army as a young person and received his education at Obion County Central High School, State Technical Institute and Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee. was a member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Cordova, Tennessee and attended Oakland Church of Christ in Oakland, Tennessee for 40 years. Mr. Storey was employed as a mechanical engineer for many years before his retirement. He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and was very proud to have been initiated into the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Storey was a hands-on father and grandfather who enjoyed camping, coaching Little League baseball, and attending his daughter’s dance recitals.
Mr. Storey is survived by his wife who he married March 31, 1968, Ina Ferrell Storey of Hickory Withe, TN; his daughter, Amanda Storey Webb (Nathan) of Cordova, TN; his son, Thomas Lewis (Stacey) of Medina, TN; his sister, Shirley Hicks of Martin, TN; five grandchildren, Devin Storey, Kate Webb, Hayden Barnett, Thomas Ryder Storey, Talya Webb; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. Storey and Lorene Shields Storey; his brother, Franklin Storey; and his granddaughter, Cali Rose Storey.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were the Boy Scouts Oakland Troop 132 Big Hatchie District.
