Thomas "Tom" Russell Nolan, Jr.

Thomas Russell “Tom” Nolan, Jr., age 77, resident of Whiteville and husband of the late Eleanor Carolyn Tisdale Nolan, departed this life Tuesday morning, June 6, 2017 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Nolan were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Melrose Cemetery in Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Nolan was born March 5, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his education in New Orleans and served his country in the United States Army for six years. He was as a barber for 45 years before his retirement in 2012 and was married June 13, 1970 to the former Eleanor Carolyn Tisdale. Mr. Nolan was a resident of the Bolivar area for over 45 years and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Bolivar. He enjoyed working in his yard and listening to classical music.

Mr. Nolan is survived by his daughter, Kalura Morris (Shawn) of Whiteville, TN; his son, Thomas Henry Leroy Nolan (Denise) of Nashville, TN; his sister, Lois A. Nolan of New Orleans, LA; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Carolyn Tisdale Nolan and his parents, Thomas Russell Nolan, Sr. and Mathilda Santos Nolan.
