Thomas G. Pitus, otherwise known as "Mr. Tom" or "Tom", age 83, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, departed this life Thursday morning, February 9, 2017 at his residence.
A Gathering of Family Members and Friends of Mr. Pitus will be conducted at the Oak Room, connected to the Trustmark Bank in Somerville on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This will be casual and a time to share with "Mr. Tom's" relative, Mary and others, your stories about him. Light refreshments will be provided. She looks forward to meeting all of you that knew him! Please bring all your "Mr. Tom" stories!
Mr. Pitus was born February 19, 1933 in Elgin, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Pitus and Juliana Papay Pitus, who were born in Hungary. He served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force for over 45 years and was a graduate of the University of Denver Law School. He practiced law overseas in the Military in Thailand and other foreign countries as well as in Texas, Illinois, and Colorado. He was asked to come to Somerville by Attorney Paul Summers and was employed as an Attorney at the Child and Family Support Office in Somerville before his retirement.
Mr. Pitus is survived by two cousins, Mary Simonini of Taos, New Mexico, her children Joe, Christian and Stacie and her sister Karen Wenck of Sacramento, California, and her children Kelary, Gil, Brennan and Brooke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Pitus who died in 1931 at the age of ten.
