Timothy "Tim" Wayne Upright

Timothy Wayne “Tim” Upright, resident of the Somerville Community and husband of Marilyn McNeil Upright, departed this life Monday evening, July 7, 2014 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was 49 years of age and died following an extended illness of six years.

Services for Mr. Upright were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 10th at the Middleburg Baptist Church near Bolivar. Personal remarks were given by Mark Harris, a family friend. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Middleburg Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Upright was born September 25, 1964 in Concord, North Carolina. He received his education in the Cabarrus County, North Carolina Public School System and served his country in the United States Army as a young person. He was married April 24, 1987 to the former Marilyn McNeil, who survives.

Mr. Upright resided in the Somerville Community for 11 years and was a member of the Middleburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed muscle cars, drag racing, jet ski boats, model airplanes and going to drive-in movies. His family was an important part of Mr. Upright's life and cherry life savers was his favorite candy.

In addition to his wife of 27 years, Mr. Upright is survived by his daughter, Christina Mathis (Jonathan) of Henderson, TN; his son, Matthew Upright of Somerville; his mother, Sylvia Jones of Grover, NC; his sister, Patina Anglin of Nashville; and five grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Alan McNeil, Bill McNeil, Matthew Upright, Jonathan Mathis, Freddie Campbell and Mark Anglin.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
