Timothy Duane “Timmy” Rodgers, resident of the Macon Community and husband of Wanda Rodgers, departed this life Friday evening, January 31, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. He was 51 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Rodgers were conducted at 2 P.M., Thursday, February 6th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. John T. Herring, pastor of Collierville First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Rodgers was born July 8, 1962 in Lexington, Mississippi, the son of Wayne Marshall Rodgers and Nell Houston Rodgers. He attended primary and secondary schools in Mississippi and continued his education at Mississippi State University. He was involved with retail management for much of his life and was employed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts until retiring in 2013 for health reasons.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Collierville First Baptist Church and had been a resident of Olive Branch, Mississippi before moving to the Macon Community three years ago. He was married December 8, 1990 to the former Wanda Dyer of Moscow Community, who survives.
Mr. Rodgers will be remembered as an avid Mississippi State University athletics fan with a great love of football and outdoor activities that included deer hunting, fishing, golf and nature. He was devoted to his family and possessed a special love for his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, Mr. Rodgers is survived by his son, Blake Rodgers (Whitney) who is stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Germany; three daughters, Kris Braddock of Mt. Pleasant, MS, Belinda Campbell of Horn Lake, MS, Sherrie Bing of Byhalia, MS; his parents, Wayne and Nell Rodgers of Collierville; two brothers, Michael Rodgers (Lori) of San Antonio, TX, Todd Rodgers (Christie) of Collierville; seven granddaughters, three grandsons and two great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Larry Culver, Randy Thomas, Tim Sanders, Tim Walker, Garry Shelby, Barry Nelson and John McMorrough.
