TINA MARIE BELL DAVIS, a resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Alvin Wayne Davis died at 12:30 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for six days. She was 45 years of age and died following a two-month illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 22nd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Tony Watkins of Fayette County officiating. Interment followed in the Perry Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Davis was born September 23, 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee the daughter of the late Bill Bell and the former Binnie Feathers Bell, who survives.
She was educated in the Mount Pleasant, Mississippi Public School System and was a graduate of the Sand Flat High School near Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a Christian. She was a lifelong resident of North Mississippi and West Tennessee and had been a resident of the Moscow and Somerville areas for most of her life.
She was married September 24, 1988 to Alvin Wayne Davis of Fayette County, Commercial Sign Erector and partner in the Memphis Sign Erectors Company before his recent death on November 19, 2008. Mr. Davis died exactly five months to the day prior to the death of his wife on April 19th.
An avid NASCAR fan throughout her life, Mrs. Davis enjoyed attending and watching wrestling and sporting events.
She will be remembered for her dry sense of humor and the enjoyment she received from being with her large immediate and extended family.
She enjoyed young people and held a special closeness to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She had been a resident of the Day Road Community near Somerville for the past eight years.
Seeking no recognition, Mrs. Davis was generous in assisting others, both family and friends, in difficult times of illness and death.
Survivors of Mrs. Davis include her step-daughter, Nikki Hoskins (William) of Whiteville; two step-sons, Brian Davis of Hernando, MS and Jason P. Davis of Somerville; her mother, Mrs. Binnie Tice of Grand Junction; two sisters, Pauline Sexton of Lamar, MS and Sherry Fay Orman of Madison, Indiana; two brothers, Calvin Leroy Feathers of Oakland and Terry Wayne Bell of Desoto, Missouri and five grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Johnny Davis, Michael Davis, T. J. Davis, G. W. Sexton, Sam Sexton and Timmy Tice.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society or to the charity, church or organization of the donor's choice.
