Tommy Edward Smith

Tommy Edward Smith, resident of the Williston Community and carpenter in Fayette and Shelby counties for much of his life died Friday morning, December 16, 2011 at his residence. He was 62 years of age and died following an illness of one year.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Smith were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 21st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Loyd Shelton of Rossville officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Smith was born November 9, 1949 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shannon Smith and Janie E. Hayes Smith. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a Christian. He was employed as a residential and commercial carpenter in Shelby and Fayette counties for much of his life before retiring 7 years ago for health reasons.

He had been a resident of the Williston Community in Fayette County since 1976. He enjoyed fishing in earlier years and his life was centered around special times with family and his grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Janie German (Damon) of Williston, Marsha Smith of Williston; his son, Robert S. Smith of Williston; his sister, Jeannie Moore of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Bobby S. Smith of Williston, Billy W. Smith of Williston; seven grandchildren, Amanda Jordan, Lonnie Smith, Shannon Smith, T.J. Smith, D.J. German, Dylan German, Bryce German; and his great grandson, Wyatt Jordan.

Honorary casketbearers were Billy Smith, Bobby Smith, Lonnie Smith, Shannon Smith, T.J. Carneal Smith and Robert Smith.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
