Varion (Brasfield) Loyd

Varion B. Loyd, age 94, resident of Covington, Tennessee, former resident of Moscow, Tennessee and wife to the late Odis Loyd, died Friday August 11, 2017 at River Terrace Health & Rehab Center.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Loyd were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Peebles West Chapel at Oakland with James K. Birdsong officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Loyd was born November 16, 1922 in Gadsden, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmit and Emma Sarrell Brasfield. She attended Fruitvale High School near Gadsden and was the store manager for J.M. Smuckers. She was married October 6, 1962 to Odis Odell Loyd, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2014. Mrs. Loyd was a member of Somerville First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the organ, cooking for her family, farm life and spending time with her neighbors and friends.

Mrs. Loyd is survived by her daughter, Rita Warner of Knoxville, TN; two sons, T.G. Sheppard (Kelly) of Hendersonville, TN, Charles Browder of Panama City Beach, FL; her stepdaughter, Norma Loyd Thweatt (Leonard) of Morrison, IL; her stepson, Rick Odis Loyd (Margaret) of Piperton, TN;  ten grandchildren, Nicole Warner, Candy Onofre, Mark Phillips, Jessie Harvey Kellie Pudlass, Jason Sheppard, Shannon Sciara, Angela Davis, Jeremy Loyd, Jennifer Thomas; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Hardy Neal Brasfield.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jessie Harvey, Mark Hall, Jeremy Tincher, Ron Davis, Jack Hanzlik and Randy Ransdell.
