Velma Mae “Billie” Ray Anderson Lovette Lane, age 81, resident of Memphis and wife of the late Roy Alton Anderson and the late Dossie Lee Lovette, departed this life Thursday morning, January 28, 2016 at the Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Lane were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Darrell Clarke officiating. A prayer was given by Joe L. Wilkerson and poem reading by Karen Guthrie. Interment followed in the Arlington Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Lane was born January 16, 1935 in Stanton, Tennessee. She received her education in the Bartlett School System and attended Mullins Station Baptist Church in Memphis. She was employed as a retail salesperson for Hoover Vacuum Cleaners before her retirement and she enjoyed decorating, sewing and had a love of flowers.
Mrs. Lane is survived by two daughters, Brenda Jane Bloodgood of Brighton, Donna Karen Guthrie (Tracey E.) of Collierville; two sons, Danny Ray Anderson of Memphis, Kenneth Scott Anderson of Tupelo, MS; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Alton Anderson; her second husband, Dossie Lee Lovette; her parents, Samuel A. Ray and Willie Mae Alberson Ray; her sister, Mavis Ione Hanks; and her brother, Harold R. Ray.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were members of the Fayette County Fire Department.
