VICKI CAROL PARSONS, a resident of the Somerville Community and former resident of Chester, Virginia died Thursday morning, November 5, 2009 at the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital where she had been a patient for four days. She was 59 years of age.
Funeral services for Miss Parsons were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, November 8th at the Graveside with Warren Adams, Administrator of the National Healthcare Center in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Portsmouth, VA, Miss Parsons was born March 27, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. Parsons and Thelma McBee Parsons.
She received her education in the Virginia Beach, Virginia Public School System and was a resident of Chester, Virginia before moving to Fayette County to be near family members.
Never one to meet a stranger, she was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as a person who enjoyed people of all ages with a special love for young children.
She was an avid lover of animals and an important part of her life was attending her church and being with friends.
She served as an inspiration to her family throughout her life.
Miss Parsons was a resident of the National Healthcare Center in Somerville at the time of her death and was currently serving as Vice-President of the Patient Council at the Center.
Survivors of Miss Parsons include two sisters, Kathy P. McCartney (Jim) of Springfield, OH and Jackie Hawkins (Steve) of Somerville; four brothers: Richard E. Parsons, III (Chris) of Camden, NC; George R. Parsons (Florence) of Maitlin, FL; Dana L. Parsons (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, VA and J.J. Parsons (Tracie) of Anchorage, AL and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice M. Rogers.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers included Steve Hawkins, Jeremy Hawkins, Jim McCartney and Michael McPherson.
