Vickie Loretta (Bland) Waxler

September 9, 1944 — December 28, 2013

Vickie Loretta Bland Waxler, resident of Effingham, South Carolina, former resident of the Oakland Community and wife of the late Louis Ray Waxler, departed this life Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the McLeod Hospice Home in Florence, South Carolina. She was 69 years of age.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Waxler were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Waxler was born September 9, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ida Lee Bland. Mrs. Waxler was a beautician in earlier years and was a resident of the Oakland Community before moving to South Carolina to be near her family. She was the wife of the late Louis Ray Waxler, a long distance truck operator, who preceded her in death on June 22, 2007.

Mrs. Waxler is survived by her daughter, Jessica Lynn Chico (Ruben) of Florence, SC; two sons, Homer Louis Waxler (Christine) of Florence, SC, Aaron Ray Waxler (Rhonda) of Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Glenn Bland; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or the Oakland First Baptist Church, 8695 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
