Virgil Dean Knop

Virgil Dean Knop, age 92, resident of Collierville and husband of Carol Abbott Knop, departed this life Friday evening, February 22, 2019 at his residence.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Knop was held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Collierville United Methodist Church Sanctuary on the Square with Rev. Deborah Suddarth, Executive Pastor at Collierville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Park Southwoods in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel in Somerville.

Virgil was born November 21, 1926 in Chiles, Kansas to Art and Esther Knop, one of five sons. He was married June 21, 1952 to the former Carol Abbott and he was a member of Collierville United Methodist Church and Christian Fellowship Class since 1973.

Mr. Knop is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol Abbott Knop; two sons, Kevin Knop (Darline), Craig Knop (Kim); three brothers, Welby Knop, Eldon Knop, Lewis Knop; three grandchildren, three great-grandsons and many extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Winston Knop.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Ryan Knop, Wayne Knop, Kent Knop and Lee Love.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Collierville United Methodist Church, 454 W. Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
