VIRGINIA BEAKE ADAMS

September 5, 1923 — December 4, 2008

VIRGINIA BEAKE ADAMS, a resident of Memphis, native Fayette Countian and wife of the late Milton Adams died at 10:09 P.M. Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at her residence in Shelby County. She was 85 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 7th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton, Baptist Minister of Rossville, officiating. Personal Reflections and a vocal selection were provided by one of Mrs. Adams' devoted caregivers, Mrs. Earlean Armour. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery of the Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Adams was born September 5, 1923, in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Jesse Beake and the late Carrie Williams Beake early residents of the Stanton Community area. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and moved at an early age to the Memphis area where she was married to the late Milton Adams who died in 1997.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the Goldsmiths Department Store in Memphis.

She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a lifelong resident of Shelby and Fayette Counties. She was a frequent visitor to Fayette County as long as health permitted and served as an inspiration to many for her determination and pleasant disposition, despite her lengthy and debilitating illness. She will be remembered for her Christian spirit and concern for others.

The last remaining survivor of her immediate family, Mrs. Adams leaves a host of nieces and nephews who wish to acknowledge with grateful appreciation her devoted caregivers during her illness.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were family members and friends.
