Virginia (Wade) Ashford
November 14, 1919 — January 23, 2016
Virginia Wade Ashford, age 96, resident of Moscow and wife of the late Harold Ashford, departed this life Saturday morning, January 23, 2016 at the Bolivar General Hospital.
Mrs. Ashford was born November 14, 1919 in the Hays Crossing Community of Fayette County. She received her education in the Fayette County School System and was married June 22, 1940 to Harold Ashford. Mrs. Ashford was a member of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow and a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She enjoyed church activities that included teaching Sunday School in earlier years and will be remembered as an avid reader.
Mrs. Ashford is survived by her son, Mike Ashford (Janette Ashford) of Bolivar, TN; her granddaughter, Tabitha Stevens (Barrett Stevens, Jr.) of Eastview, TN; and two great grandchildren, Shelby Stevens and Thomas Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ashford who died February 11, 2003; her parents, James William Wade and Lenora Francis Farley Wade; her daughter, Tanya Kay Ashford who died May 5, 2009; her sister, Bertha Bell Dilliard; and her brother, James "Buddy" Wade.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Billy Hayden, Spencer Hayden, Shane Hayden, Barrett Stevens, Jr., Thomas Stevens and Sherman Adair.
