Virginia Mae (Wiliams) Bobbitt

October 1, 1932 — September 19, 2016

Virginia Mae Williams Bobbitt, age 83, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Charles Dempsey Bobbitt, departed this life Monday morning, September 19, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Bobbitt were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland officiating. He was assisted by Dr. Kenneth Culver, pastor of the Warren Community Church in Somerville. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park at Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Bobbitt was born October 1, 1932 in Fayette County. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married November 24, 1950 to Charles Dempsey Bobbitt. Mrs. Bobbitt was a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and was employed as a supervisor at Salant & Salant in Somerville for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed preparing food, special times with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Bobbitt had a special love for her pet dogs.

Mrs. Bobbitt is survived by two daughters, Donna Stokes (Terry) of Oakland, Linda Kelley of Somerville; her son, Charles “Bubba” Bobbitt (Virginia Ann) of Somerville; her sister, Willima Smith of Collierville; eight grandchildren, Larry Wayne Hoskins (Beth), Angie Sanders (JR), Brandy Jamison (Mike), Jamie Bryson (Raymond), Donnie Spicer (Brandie), Dale Spicer, Joshua Spicer (Ashley), Jennifer Hollingsworth (Beau); 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her special caregivers, Karen Tiens and Mashika Burnes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dempsey Bobbitt who died April 8, 2006; her parents, George Williams and Anna Mae Doyle Williams; and three brothers, Ed Williams, Wesley Williams and Thomas Williams.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Joshua Spicer, Joseph Spicer, Christopher Spicer, Matthew Stokes, Robert Sanders, Jacob Sanders and Charlie Pardue. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Joe Spicer, Larry Wayne Hoskins, Terry Stokes and Beau Hollingsworth.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Warren Community Church, 11800 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
