Virginia Louise Burrow Burgess, age 102, resident of the Gallaway Community and wife of the late Thomas Everett Burgess and the late James Walter Dacus, Sr., departed this life Wednesday morning, April 29, 2015 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Burgess were conducted at 5 P.M. Friday, May 1st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Jimmy Rowland officiating. Interment followed in the Burrow Cemetery in the Gallaway Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Burgess was born December 2, 1912 in Gallaway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Burrow and Edna Prater Burrow. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was a member of Gallaway Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ. Mrs. Burgess enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and riding her lawn mower.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by two daughters, Virginia “Sis” Crutcher of Mason, Edna Fortune (Charles) of Bartlett; her son, Charles E. Dacus, Sr. (Betty) of Moscow; her daughter-in-law, Jan Dacus of Germantown; 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Louise Conklin; two sons, Walter Dacus, Jr., Thomas E. Burgess, Jr.; three sisters, Evie Kelley, Clyde Dacus, Floy Beaver; two brothers, Claude Burrow, Olian Burrow; and two grandchildren, Mary “Lulu” Garey and Billy Joe Conklin.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Justin Barnett, Bob Barnett, Ryan Barnett, Chuck Dacus, Win Moore, Chad Dacus, Alex Rowland, Murray Dacus, Shelton Dacus and Zack McKell.
