Virginia (Wiles) Hailey

Margaret Virginia Wiles Hailey, resident of the Oakland Community and wife of the late Richard L. Hailey, Jr., departed this life Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at her residence. She was 92 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hailey were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, August 8th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Brent Wells, pastor of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Oakland, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Hailey was born March 13, 1922 in Whiteville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilton Wiley Wiles and Laura Alice Rodgers Wiles. She received her education in the Hardeman County Public School System and was married July 27, 1940 to Richard L. Hailey, Jr., who preceded her in death on August 4, 2000.

Mrs. Hailey moved to the Oakland Community 22 years ago and attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and working with flowers.

Mrs. Hailey is survived by her son, David Hailey of Oakland; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Van Hailey; and her sister, Gladys Howse.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mel Billings, David Hollis, Jerry Hatfield, Alex Remson, Mike Hailey and Mark McInnis.

Honorary casketbearers were Woodrow Hailey and Larry Howse.
